Uganda Law Society Opposes Tax On Mobile Money
Uganda law society has opposed the newly proposed tax of 1% on mobile money transactions.
Edward Balaba one of the representative of Uganda law society noted that multiple levels of tax are being applied on the same item like airtime and mobile money transactions.
Balaba noted that government plans to impose excise duty on a person who receives mobile money, payments on mobile money and withdrawals on mobile money which he says will affect the industry.
Balaba notes the increased tax burden on mobile money transactions will negatively affect the growing mobile industry.
