Mbarara City FC 8-0 Katete Young FC

Mbarara City FC bounced back from their 2-4 preseason defeat against Tiles and Talazo FC with an 8-0 thrashing of Katete Young FC on Wednesday.

Mukundane Hilary opened the scoring after eight minutes when he headed in from Orit Ibrahim’s corner after Katete Young’s poor defending in the six yards’ box.

Orit himself should have doubled City’s lead two minutes later but he was denied by the heroics of Clinton Baker who produced an outstanding save to deny the former Soroti Garage forward.

Clinton produced yet another great save after quarter an hour to deny Makueth Wol from close range after he was left unmarked in the area.

The Katete Young custodian was finally beaten after twenty five minutes when he misjudged Barssey Methodius’ corner kick which was headed in by Paul Darko from the far post to double the Ankole Lions’ advantage.

Makueth Wol added a third after thirty five minutes when Stephen Kabuye’s through ball again found the South Sudanese international unmarked in the box.

Ibrahim Orit was allowed time to beat two defenders and compose himself before he curled the ball passed the Katete Young goalie to make it 4-0 before half time.

Makueth Wol then turned from scorer to provider as his short pass was met by new signing Ivan Eyam who’s long range effort turned Clinton Baker into a mere spectator five minutes after the restart.

Stephen Kabuye made 6-0 after the hour before substitutes Brian Ahebwa and Umar Muhinzi scored a goal each to complete the 8-0 rampage.

City had eight different goal scorers in the game and have now scored a total of thirty four goals  from twelve games.

The Ankole Lions missed their record signing and former KCCA FC winger Paul Mucurezi who is yet to report for training while forward Karim Ndugwa is away on compassionate leave.

The win means Mbarara City FC have registered their biggest win in pre-season after playing twelve games and winning ten.
