Parliamentary Committee on Finance Concludes tour of Boarder Customs Stations
The Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Planning and Economic Development, has concluded a five-day visit to customs border stations in Northern and Eastern Uganda.
The Committee chaired by Henry Musasizi visited the customs border stations of Busia, Malaba, Elegu, Afogi, Oraba, Lia, Vurra and Pakwach with the aim of appreciating the operations of customs border points and their unique challenges.
However the commissioner Customs Dickson Kateshumbwa, told the committee that the Malaba export road, which connects to the newly built export bridge, funded by Kenya, had not yet been constructed thus pausing a serious problem.
In response the committee chairman, acknowledged the progress made to improve the border posts and promised to address parliament on the issue of Kenya boarders that are still wanting.
