Otafiire asks Judiciary to uphold the late Benedicto Kiwanuka’s values

Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Kahinda Otafiire challenges stakeholders in the Judiciary to stand for the values that the late Benedict Kiwanuka stood for.

Benedict Kiwanuka Kagimu was the first African Chief Justice of Uganda and a co-founder of the Democratic Party who was brutally murdered under the Idi Amin regime 46 years ago today after falling out with the Powers that be at the time.

Otafiire describes the late Ben. Kiwanuka as a principled, selfless, and uncompromising individual who stood by his principles no matter how risky and urges Judicial officers to emulate him.

This at Kiwanuka’s first memorial lecture organized by the Judiciary at the High Court Grounds today.

Oh his part the President Uganda Law Society Simon Peter Kinobe urges the current regime to get over what he calls the rhetoric of their bush days saying the current generation does not connect with it.
