Minister Jjeje Odongo Rushes to Bushenyi As Gun Crime Escalates
The minister for internal affairs Gen. Jjeje Odongo has called for retraining of private security organs to guarantee standardization of security personnel.
Gen. Odongo noted that many private security organs recruit people anyhow which has killed professionalism resulting into mishandling of guns.
He made these remarks yesterday during the security meeting held at Bushenyi district council hall following the insecurity threat of panga welding and gun which claimed lives of people in the district urging security officers to start night patrols rather than wait to respond on or after criminality saying patrols scares criminals.
Mary Karoro Okurutu , the minister for general duties who doubles as women Member of Parliament Bushenyi district attributed the security challenge to keeping deaf ears to criminals urging people to cooperate and share information which will enable to fight against the crimes.
Over 14 people were arrested and remanded in Nyamushekyera government prison in connection with panga wielding incidents in the period of 2 months leaving two people dead and five sustained serious injuries.
