Minister Bahati Urges Ugandans On Saving Culture
The State Minister for Finance in charge Planning, David Bahati has asked Ugandans to embrace a saving culture if they are to develop and end poverty in their homes.
The legislator made the call today while speaking as a guest of honour during the annual general meeting of Unique Savings and Credit Cooperative (SACCO) that was held at Kirigime Guest house in Kabale municipality.
Minister Bahati urged Ugandans to make the use of the SACCOs in their respective areas as an engine to promote their small scale enterprise. He called upon SACCO members to make use the money wisely and
profitable, so that more members can also benefit with an aim of fighting poverty in homes and communities.
He said that majority of Ugandans have not embraced the saving culture but get loans from banks and SACCOs only to spend it in luxuries which has left them in high levels of poverty.
Minister Bahati added that the culture of saving is the only sure way for Ugandans to succeed and urged the public to start saving with SACCOs saying it is the best way to secure a comfortable future.
