Mbarara district local council has resolved to close all small scale beverage processing factories without certification of Uganda Bureau of Standards.
This was after the report by Community Based Services Committee read to council yesterday showed that these beverage processing factories are putting lives of the people at stake due to poor sanitary and hygienic standards in their working places.
The Chairperson of the Committee Annet Arinaitwe Bwongyereirwe while presenting the report presented the report to district council explained that among these factories visited by the committee members lacked toilets among other hygienic facilities.
In his ruling the council speaker Balaam Ndyaguma said that a team composed of the district chairperson, Chief Administrative Officer, Municipality Officials and UNBS officials should visit these factories and close all those who don’t meet the required standards.
Meanwhile, council also directed all division and sub county chiefs to use the available enforcement and close all illegal and unregistered mushrooming churches that are not registered with Uganda Registration Services Bureau URSB that have turned into centers of crime.
