The director of clinical services ministry of health Dr Olalo Charles yesterday  told the media at Mbarara regional referral hospital  that the ministry of  health intends to reduce the number people sent abroad for specialized health care.

While presiding over a new fistula ward at the hospital Dr Olalo noted that the ministry is making an assessment of the different medical capacities available in the country.

He further clarified that  soon  the women specialized hospital in Kampala will be open in addition to other facilities in different regions such as in Mbale ,kumi among others. Apparently Uganda has the capacity to provide orthorpaedic services, neural surgical services , kidney diseases, cases of cardiac and others according to Dr Olala.

According to statistics in 2015,2016 Uganda makes around 150 referrals annually, this the number of only documented numbers but there are people who refer them selves and not documented.
