Kabale Municipal Council to give a plot of land to Christ the King Church as compensation
Kabale Municipal Council has resolved to give a plot of municipal land to Christ the King Church Kabale for trespassing into their land with a drainage channel.
According to the Kabale Municipality Mayor Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugish, in September 2015, when Kabale Municipal Council was working on Bwankosya Road, the workers of Reynolds Construction Company while building a drainage channel, trespassed through church land without
permission from the church and Kabale diocese.
Byamugisha says that after the incident, Kabale municipal council authorities led by the town clerk held a harmonization meeting with the church leaders and agreed to compensate Christ the King Church but the municipality turned not serious which prompted the church to sue the council into the courts of law.
He explains that, arising out of the civil suit No.25 of 2017 between the two parties with the guidance of the Kabale High Court Judge reached at the consent judgment to either pay 115 million shillings or compensate the church with a plot of land and of which the Kabale Municipal Council opted to give since they do not have enough money for compersation.
