Pre-season friendly: Ivan Eyam returns as Mbarara City FC hosts SC Villa.

Mbarara City FC players will have another chance to impress new coach Livingstone Mbabazi when they host SC Villa on Saturday at Kakyeka Stadium in another pre-season friendly match.
This will be City’s seveth preseason friendly match and a fourth at their home in Kakyeka where they are yet to draw or lose any of the preseason matches.

SC Villa under new manager Moses Basena have played two games this off season, a 3-2 loss against Wakiso Giants FC and a 1-0 win over URA FC in the Pilsner Super Eight.
Villa will be visiting Kakyeka stadium for the second time this year, their last visit being a 1-1 draw in the Uganda Premier League back in April.

Team News.
The Ankole Lions will be hoping midfielder Ivan Eyamu recovers from the ankle injury he suffered in training which kept him out of the 3-0 win over Ghetto FC.

Defender Muhammad Rashid who sat out the last friendly against Mbarara Police FC is also expected to feature having returned to training this week. 

Forward Mihinzi Umar Mbusa who was on trial from Buwekura penned a three year deal with the Ankole Lions after impressing the coaches and will be available for selection.

Only Kamugisha Clinton is ruled out with a knee injury.

New look SC Villa will miss the services of first choice goal keeper Samson Kirya who is recovering from a knee injury and will maintain Samuel Kivumbi who featured in the 1-0 win against URA FC.

The two sides met twice last season in the Uganda Premier league with SC Villa winning 1-0 at the Masaka Recreational ground in the first round while the second round match ended in a 1-1 draw at Kakyeka Stadium.

  • Mbabazi’s side has scored thirteen goals this preseason having managed seventeen in thirty Uganda Premier League games last season.
  • City have also conceded three times this preseason.

  • Villa have won only one of their last seven away games including friendlies, a 3-0 win against KJT in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
  • Villa have registered a single win in their last eight games, 1-0 at home to URA FC.
