Parliament has directed for fresh elections in sheema  North after sworn in of the former mp for this constituency Dr.Elioda Tumwesigye who moved from this constituency to Sheema municipality.

This was announced by the speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga after witnessing the swearing in of Tumwesigye and reporting to parliament that Tumwesigye resignation letter from sheema north was received by the office of the speaker.

Kadaga said that the clerk to parliament should declare the sheema north vacant to allow a bye-election conducted.

The controversial sheema municipality elected mp Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye who is also the minister of science and Technology  was voted without resigning the seat as mp for the sheema north, stating that the law does not require him to do so, which public viewed as unusual and a gap in laws.
