KISORO: Leaders in Kisoro district have called on the general public to be mindful of their personal health following a second Ebola Outbreak in neighboring country of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Central Division Chairperson in Kisoro Municipality Ramathdan Ndikuyezi said the security in the district should be tightened especially on boarders since most of the Congolese have started using ungazetted routes without being detected which posse’s Ugandans to danger.
Ndikuyezi also called on the Government to increase health surveillance at border and other entry points in the district.
The Kisoro district Woman Member of Parliament Rose Kabagenyi expressed the need for residents in the Kisoro district to be mindful of how they relate with Congolese especially the refugees saying that they might cross with this strange killer disease.
The legislator called on leaders at different levels to pay attention to their communities and assist anyone who is experiencing any strange sickness.
Nick Muneza, a senior health official at Kisoro district headquarters who is responsible for monitoring such strange diseases said Kisoro district is prepared for any outbreak.
He urged the communities to desist shaking hands and hugging until this incident of Ebola is completely cleared by health workers.
