The NRM Women council leader’s elections in Mbarara district have been nullified by NRM District registrar, Yorokam Kacumita following the order from National electoral commission Chairperson Dr. Tang Odoi on the petitions documents report to him by one of the opponents on Irregularities.
The NRM district Registrar Mbarara district Yoram Kacumita at first instance allowed the Women Chairpersons from 17 districts and four Town councils in Mbarara district to cast their votes where Kitinwa Rabecca was declared unopposed, Monic Mutabarura declaired as a winner as a Vice Chairperson with 12 votes against her opponent Hope Tumwebaze with 8 votes who has been Chairperson since 2016 votes.
Kacumita nullfied the already announced results having received the call from Dr. Tang Odoi the National electoral commission Chairperson postponding elections to tomorrow 7th.August 2018 due to petition reported to him by Hope Tumwebaze.
The nullifications of the results brought chaos to one of the supporters and voters of Monic Mutabarura who was announced as a winner Vice chairperson seat saying that the elections was declared and there was no need of cancelling and postponding elections.
Monic Mutabarura one of the candidates whose election was nullified has urged the electorate to allow voters to elect the leader of their choice other than allowing some candidates to present forged documents to electoral commission.
The Women council election for Mbarara district according to Dr.Tang Odoi was postponed to tomorrow as he assured electorate to come and participate in the election.
