Kabale Municipality Health Centre II is struggling to cope up with a water crisis after it was disconnected by National Water and Sewerage Corporation after failing to clear arrears amounting to over one million shillings.
According to the health workers, the health facility was disconnected by National Water and Sewerage Corporation two months back for failing to clear the accumulated bills since January this year.
They claim that they informed the municipality authorities on the matter but nothing has been done.
One of the health workers who preferred anonymity told our reporter that the dangers of diseases outbreak are very high since the facility depends on flush toilets. She also says that they currently use their own money to buy a jerican of water from boda boda at 500 to wash hands and other equipment’s at the facility.
The Municipality Health Inspector Andrew Beija says that they have paid the bills and the health facility will be reconnected very soon.
Efforts to get a comment from the Area Manager for National Water and Sewerage Corporation Kabale Branch Lenny Otai were futile as refused to pick our phone calls.
