Leaders in Northern Division yesterday opposed the decision by Kabale municipal council authorities to relocate two families from Nyakahita cell of Kigongi B in Central division to a three acre Butare land of Northern Division in Kabale municipality.
During Kabale Municipal council meeting yesterday, the councilors resolved to relocate two families who discontinued the construction works on Kigongi road from Nyakahita cell of Kigongi B in Central division to Butare land of Northern Division in Kabale municipality.
According to the Kabale Municipality Mayor Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha, the construction of Kigongi road under the Uganda Support to Municipality Infrastructure Development-USMID, which was expected to connect to the Kabale-Mbarara road stalled after the two families that were found in the road way demanded for compensation.
Speaking yesterday during the State of the Division Address at the Division Council Hall in Kabale Municipality, the Northern division leaders leader by the division chairperson Isaac Mucunguzi Rushoga and the division speaker Elisha Birungi explained that the division authorities have already planned to construct a hostel for health workers at Rutooma health centre II and a hotel where the division will collect revenue.
The leaders also wondered why the municipal authorities decided to relocate the families to their land without their consent.
Speaking as a guest of honor, the Kabale municipality Member of Parliament Andrew Baryayanga Aja asked the authorities at the municipal and division level to sit and harmonize so that the land doesnot devide the leaders and the locals.
