Student Leaders Asked to Champion Fight Against Sexual Harassment In Higher Institutions
Student leaders have been challenged to stand up and be the torch bearers in the fight against the vice of sexual harassment that has found place in Higher institutions of learning.
The call has been made by the Guild President, Makerere University Business School-Mbarara Branch, Akampa Charles.
The media has always been awash with reports of sexual harassment of students by lecturers and sex for favours, with girls mostly falling prey in hope for exchange for marks.
Last week, Makerere University Main campus suspended a senior administrative staff in the office of the academic registrar, Edward Kisuze, over allegations of sexual harassment of a former Makerere student of Kenyan Origin, Rachael Njoroge.
Speaking to Mbarara Sun News, Akampa says it falls incumbent upon them as leaders to fight the vice, and rules out the possibility that such is happening at MUBS-Mbarara Campus.
