Celebrations to mark Uganda’s 56th independence anniversary are underway at Kasasa grounds in Kyotera district. A number of dignitaries are already in attendance, with President Museveni the chief guest. The event is marked under the theme: “Standing Tall to Celebrate 56 Years of Independence”.
Kyotera district, curved out f Rakai in 2015, became operational as a district in July last year. It is expected that about 100 people will receive medals for their contribution in the struggle for independence as well as liberation struggle for the country.
Meanwhile, on his way to Kyotera, President Museveni made a stopover at the Police Command Centre at Nateete police station and commissioned the CCTV cameras project. The president Museveni has previously underlined the need for such surveillance as one of several measures to combat urban crime.
