Human Rights Sensitization Campaign Launched In Rwenzori region
The Uganda Human rights Network is implementing a two year project in the three districts of Rwenzori region. This was revealed in a meeting was held at Verina gardens and was attended by the officials from police, prisons and civil society.
According to the project Manager, Patrick Tumwine, the project is aimed at strengthening institutional and community capacities to access justice and protect human rights in the Rwenzori region.
Patrick pointed out that they are going to work tirelessly with the security agencies including the Armed forces, police and prisoners so that they respond positively to human rights abuses in the community.
The project will operate in the districts of Kasese ,Kabarole and Bundibujo. In his remarks , the Deputy Resident District Commissioner for kasese District, Aminadabu Muhindo warned locals against indulging in activities that lead to human rights violations.

The Regional Police Commander Kasese district, Mr. Ceaser Tusingwire said that the police IS committed in observing human rights as well as investigating human rights violations.
