Government to Buy Ferry for Fruit Transportation on the Islands

Government is to purchase a big ferry for buvuma and Bugala islands  for transportation of fresh fruits in the area .This was revealed by the project manager Vegetable oil Development project Connie Masaba while speaking at the launching of the growing of palm oil in Buvuma IN Buvuma town council together with the ministry of Agriculture officials.

Masaaba also during a one day tour with MPs on the agriculture committee of parliament in Buvuma said that the project which is funded by Government of Uganda and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) has purchased land totaling up to 7,591 hectares in Buvuma at a cost of  67 billion shillings for establishment of the nucleus estate.

She added that the ministry will also buy a big ferry to improve transport services at Buvuma Island, and another one to help in transportation of fresh fruit bunches from Bunyama and Bubembe Islands to Bugala where the oil palm factory will be centered.
