The third edition of Western Uganda’s Got Talent Grand Finale will take place on Saturday 25th August 2018 at Big Fun Entertainment Center Mbarara as we look forward to a season that will be more jam packed with action in terms of entertainment.
Western Uganda’s Got Talent (often abbreviated as WUGT) is a Ugandan reality talent show that features singers, dancers, magicians, comedians, and other performers of all ages competing for the advertised top prize in shillings. The show is a product of Foundation for Youth Empowerment (FOYE), a youth empowerment project based in Mbarara Uganda whose mission and aim is to eradicate the rampant unemployment among the youth in Uganda through talent.
“Western Uganda’s Got Talent has given an opportunity to so many talented people in region through giving them a stage and also giving them confidence and belief that they can make it”. Said event Organizer Nuwagaba Ivan.
“We have given different offers to different acts likes audio and video sponsorships to singers, used media to connect some acts to different talent developers and also growing slowly with the brand. We also keep in touch with our winners and also encourage them to continue with studies alongside their talents”. Ivan added.
Ivan called on well wishers and the government to supports the entertainment industry in order to fight unemployment and idleness among the youth.
“Therefore, I call upon the government and any other well wisher to step in and support us because talent is instrumental in solving the problem of unemployment in Uganda”.
The show debuted in June 2016 for the summer season. From season one (2016) on wards, the prize includes cash, production sponsorship for example for singers and other acts, exposure to talent developers and managers, and also a chance to headline in all shows organized by WUGT . Its significant features are that it gives an opportunity to talented amateurs or unknown performers, with the results decided by an audience vote. The format is a popular one and will in near future be reworked for television series in Uganda and the entire East African Region.
